On 29 August 2022, the Investigative Committee officers in Minsk detained journalist Ivan Murauyou. He was charged under part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code ('Participation in an extremist formation').
Ivan Murauyou is a journalist, cameraman, and photographer who was previously detained in August 2020.
On December 26, 2022, the City Court of Minsk sentenced Murauyou to two and a half years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The case was tried behind closed doors, so the details are unknown. The verdict was delivered by Judge Alena Shylko.
According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, the case file was only two volumes with one 'criminal' episode. This refers to the video filming for the investigation carried out by the journalist Stanislau Ivashkevich that was shown by the Belsat TV channel. The story titled 'Liliya Lukashenka's girlfriend and oligarchs became beneficiaries of the orthopedists case' was broadcasted in July 2022.
