Iryna Takarchuk is the mother of former political prisoner Volha Takarchuk. Iryna was arrested on January 23, 2024.
Iryna was placed in custody in the pre-trial detention center. Initially, Iryna was detained under Part 3 of article 361-1 of the Criminal Code - in this case her husband and her daughter Volha were summoned for questioning as witnesses. Only on January 25, they learned that the charges were brought under Part 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (promoting extremist activities).
Iryna was placed in custody in the investigative prison No. 8.
Iryna's case will be considered in Minsk City Court on August 1, 2024. Judge Tatsiana Falkouskaya will preside over the trial.
On August 14, 2024, Iryna Takarchuk was sentenced to three years' imprisonment.
