Iryna Harashyna was arrested on August 23, 2021, for posting messages on a local Telegram channel, which was later recognized as "extremist". Later she was charged under Part 1 of Article 342 ('Group actions grossly disrupting public order') and Part 2 of Article 203 ('Illegal actions with privacy information and personal data') of the Criminal Code.
She was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
In early March 2022, Iryna Harashyna was transferred from remand prison #3 to women's penal colony # 4 in Homieĺ.
On June 3, 2023, the political prisoner was released, having served her full sentence.
