Iryna Bud-Husaim is an accountant for the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BCDTU). She was arrested on April 19, 2022, and placed in remand prison #1 in Minsk on charges under Article 342 of the Criminal Code ('Organization and preparation of actions grossly disrupting public order or active participation in them').
On December 20, 2022, the trial began in the City Court of Minsk. On December 26, the verdict was passed: Iryna Bud-Husaim was sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony. That was the very punishment the prosecution asked for.
On March 24, 2023, the Supreme Court considered the political prisoner's appeal and upheld the verdict.
In early May 2023, Iryna Bud-Husaim was released having served her sentence.
