Illia Palkhouski is a defendant in the Brest trial of the "dancing protesters" opened after the events of September 13, 2020 (when several hundred peaceful protesters were dispersed by a water cannon).

Palkhouski was charged under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order).

He was eventually sentenced to 2 years of restricted freedom and sent to an open correctional facility ("khimiya"). Palkhouski was arrested while trying to leave Belarus. After 15 days of administrative imprisonment, he was placed in a pre-trial detention center to be later sent to serve his "khimiya" sentence.

In September 2023, Palkhouski served his sentence in full and was released from jail.
