Ihar Nemirovich was arrested in early May 2022 and placed under house arrest, but he subsequently escaped and left Belarus.

Later in the year, he applied to the commission that handles appeals of Belarusians abroad and returned home without a response. This occurrence did not serve as an "unconditional basis for concluding his repentance." On September 27, 2023, he was arrested again.

In the Maskoŭski District Court of Brest, Judge Maryia Aliferuk sentenced Ihar to one year of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony, as defined in Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting Lukashenka).
