Ihar Melnikau is a historian.
Melnikau's last activity on Instagram is dated January 21, 2024, just before a raid on those expressing support for political prisoners, which took place on January 23-24. It is not known whether he was involved in the raid or it was just a coincidence.
Ihar's trial will begin on September 10 in the Minsk City Court. He is accused of "promoting extremist activities" (Part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code).
