Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Ihar Halushka is an organizer of hiking tours from Homieĺ. He was detained on March 1, 2022, and then transferred to a pre-trial detention center on charges under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 368 (insulting the President) and Article 130 (inciting social hatred). The case was initiated for his comments on a political topic between 2020–2021.
On June 30, 2022, a closed-door hearing of his case began. On July 14, Judge Aliaksei Khlyshchankou found Ihar Halushka guilty and sentenced him to two years and six months in a general-security penal colony.
