Hanna Baran was detained on October 13, 2021, in Pružany, Brest region, as a defendant in the high profile "round dance protest" case in Brest. The woman was remanded in custody before the trial.

On November 15, 2021, the Brest District Court sentenced Hanna Baran to 18 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.

In late February 2022, she was transferred to penal colony #4 in Homieĺ.

Hanna Baran served her full sentence and was released on February 15, 2023.
