Eldar Safarau

Eldar Safarau, a former colonel of justice and prosecutor, was detained in December 2023 under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (Active participation in group actions that violate public order). Along with him, his son and wife, lawyer Yuliya Stankevich, were also detained.
Safarau is known for his work in several high-profile trials, including his role as prosecutor in the politically motivated case of businessman Mikalai Autukhovich from Vaŭkavysk in 2010.
In the fall of 2020, Safarau resigned from his position due to the events that occurred during that time.
It has been reported that Eldar and his family have been released.
