Dzmitry Liauchuk was charged under Art. 342 ('Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them') and Art. 205 ('Theft') of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The case was considered on August 11, 2022, in the Frunzenski District Court of Minsk, by the presiding judge Andrei Mlechka and with the public prosecutor Aksana Dudko.
Liauchuk was accused of taking part in a rally on September 20, 2020, and going out onto the roadway in Minsk. The Minsktrans government-owned public transport operator filed a claim for compensation for property damage in the amount of BYN 47,716.07 (about USD 17,288).
At the hearing, Liauchuk fully admitted his guilt.
In this criminal case, he was in detention from February 15 to 25, 2022, and from March 17 to 20, 2022. From May 16, 2022 until the announcement of the verdict on August 11, 2022 he was in custody.
Liauchuk was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years of freedom restriction with a referral to an open-type penal facility.
He has been serving his sentence since September 22, 2022.
