Dmitry Kachanovski was sentenced on January 31 by the Zavodski District Court of Minsk to 3 years of restricted prison in an open-type penitentiary under Article 369 of the Criminal Code for insulting former Interior Ministry spokeswoman Volha Chamadanava.    

The case was considered by Judge Alena Kaptsevich. 

It is also known that Dmitry will serve this sentence concurrently with another one imposed earlier. On September 3, 2021, Kachanovski was tried in Zavodski District Court of Minsk under a defamatory article.  He was found guilty under Article 370 of the Criminal Code for taking down the national flag from a kindergarten. The verdict in this case is unknown to the human rights defenders.
