Dzianis Halauko is from Svietlahorsk, Homieĺ region. Criminal proceedings were started against him under Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus ('Organization and preparation of or active participation in actions grossly disrupting public order').

Dzianis Halauko was arrested on June 6, 2023, at his workplace—he was living and working in Minsk—and sentenced to 13 days of arrest under Part 2 of Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences ('Dissemination of extremist materials'). Having served his arrest, Dzianis Halauko never got out of prison—instead, another administrative report was drawn up against him, that time under Article 19.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences ('Petty hooliganism'). Having served his second arrest, he was never released.

On June 30, 2023, his relatives were informed that Dzianis Halauko was transferred from the detention center for administrative offenders to the remand prison on Akrescina Street in Minsk and charged under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code.

On November 1, 2023, the trial took place. Judge Yuliya Krepskaya sentenced him to three years of restricted freedom under home confinement ("domashnyaya khimiya") under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code. Dzianis was released in the courtroom after almost four months of imprisonment.
