Daniil Vitunou was detained on October 13, 2022, and sentenced to administrative arrest. He was then re-arrested as a defendant in a criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (‘active participation in group actions grossly disrupting public order’).

The case of the political prisoner was considered in the Kastryčnicki District Court of Minsk. On January 30, 2023, Judge Volha Niaborskaya sentenced him to 12 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.

In March 2023, it became known that Daniil Vitunou was transferred from remand prsion #1 in Minsk to prison #4 in Mahilioŭ.
