On 18 May 2022, the City Court of Navapolatsk, Vitebsk region, convicted Daniil Ramanau of insulting a representatives of the authorities (Article 369 of the Criminal Code) - Dzmitry Balaba, commanding officer of OMON.

According to the prosecution, Romanov commented on a publication with Balaba's photo in a Telegram chat room. The text of the commentary was recognized as negatively evaluating Balaba in connection with his official duties.

Romanov was sentenced to one year and a half at an open correctional facility. Besides, he must pay BYN 1,500 to the OMON commander Balaba as material compensation for moral damage. The court decided to leave under arrest Romanov's mobile phone, using which he had written the comment.

He was scheduled to be released from prison in early 2024.
