Sarokin, together with tut.by reporter Katsiaryna Barysevich, was charged under Part 3 of Art. 178 of the Criminal Code for disclosing a medical secret, which allegedly led to serious consequences in connection with the publication of medical documents concerning the death of Raman Bandarenka.
The information contained in these documents refuted the statements of officials alleging that Raman Bandarenka was drunk at the time of the beating, after which he was taken to the police statio and later died in hospital.
On March 2, Judge Sviatlana Bandarenka of the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk sentenced Sarokin to 2 years of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 1,450 rubles. The convict was released in the courtroom.
