Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Artsyom Mazanik, a programmer, was arrested on January 12, 2022, in a criminal case on ‘group actions grossly violating public order’ (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
He was also accused of ‘Illegal actions with respect to information about private life and personal data’ (Part 3, Article 203-1 of the Criminal Code), ‘calls for actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus’ (Part 3, Article 361 of the Criminal Code), and ‘aiding in incitement of hatred’ (Part 6, Article 16 and Part 3, Article 130 of the Criminal Code).
On July 22, 2022, the KGB put Artsyom on the list of persons involved in terrorist activities.
He is being held in pre-trial detention center.
