Andrei Khrenkou was detained on August 30, 2020 in Minsk during a weekly Sunday protest.
Khrenkou was charged under Art. 364 of the Criminal Code (violence or threat of violence against a police officer) for involvement in a clash with police officers who tried to arrest Aliaksei Charvinski.
On November 27, 2020, Judge Maryna Zapasnik of the Lieninski District Court of Minsk sentenced Khrenkou to 5 years in a general-security penal colony.
On September 24, 2021, a court ruled to upgrade the detention conditions to imprisonment in a maximum-security prison for a period of 3 years.
