Aliaksei Mandzik was arrested in November 2021. He works at the 5th city polyclinic as the head of the prevention department and a general practitioner.
The reason for the arrest reported by GUBAZiK (Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption) was his subscription to "destructive Telegram channels" and posting "destructive and insulting comments" referring to police officers.
A pro-government resource published his "letter of repentance".
In June 2020, his case was tried in the Hrodna Regional Court by Judge Anatol Zayats. Mandzik was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
Aliaksei Mandzik was included in the 'List of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens, and stateless persons involved in extremist activities'.
