Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Aliaksandr Zhmuro is a resident of Navahradak, convicted under Article 368 of the Criminal Code for contempt of the president and for inciting enmity against the police (Article 130 of the Criminal Code). Before his detention Aliaksandr Zhmuro worked as a mover, he has a child.
It is known that the case of insulting the president was filed for a message in Telegram, which Zhmuro left on 27 September 2020. As for Article 130 of the Criminal Code, the criminal case was based on Telegram messages that Zhmuro posted from July to October 2020, which, according to the investigation and the court, contained calls for aggressive actions against police officers.
On 25 March 2021, Hrodna Region Court sentenced him to 3.5 years of imprisonment, as well as to compulsory treatment for alcoholism.
