Aliaksandr Rusetski was arrested together with his brother Aliaksei for participating in the 2020 protests. He was accused of "active participation in group actions grossly violating public order" (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

On November 30, 2021, the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk sentenced Aliaksei Rusetski to three years and Aliaksandr Rusetski to two and a half years of “khimiya” (restricted freedom in an open penitentiary). Both were released in the courtroom to wait for an appeal hearing.

In February 2022, Aliaksandr started serving his sentence in an open correctional facility No. 7.

He is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2024.
