Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Aliaksandr Puhach was accused of ‘insulting a government official’ and ‘insulting the President’ and taken into custody under Articles 369 and 368 of the Criminal Code.
On January 16, 2023, Judge Ruslan Tsaruk found the political prisoner guilty and sentenced him to three and a half years' imprisonment in a penal colony and compensation for moral damage in the amount of 10,000 rubles (100 basic units).
On March 29, 2023, the KGB included the political prisoner in the "list of terrorists".
He was included in the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
He was pardoned and released on September 16, 2024.
