Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Aliaksandr Pastserniak was detained in Hrodna and accused of sending a message to the chat-bot 'Nexta' stating that Belarusian troops were heading to Ukraine in the first days of the war. He was convicted under Part 1 of Article 13, Part 1 of Article 293, Part 1 of Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code. Judge Vital Kulesh considered the case from July 17 to July 21, 2023. Aliaksandr was sentenced to imprisonment.
On October 20, 2023, Pastserniak was added to the list of individuals involved in extremist activities, which includes Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens, and stateless persons.
He was pardoned and released on September 16, 2024.
