Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Aliaksandr Nahela was sentenced on August 25, 2021 to three years in a penal colony by the Hrodna Regional Court under Article 130 of the Criminal Code for posting comments condemning the illegal violence by law enforcement officers of Belarus and Russia.
According to the prosecution, Nahela posted thirteen comments in a local Telegram chat, in which he verbally attacked the police for their actions during the protests after last year's elections. The comments allegedly contained calls for violence.
