Aliaksandr Matsiayuk is an activist of the "Country for Life" and Sviatlana Tsikhanovskaya's team who has been repeatedly detained under political administrative articles.
Aliaksandr together with another activist, Aleh Barazna, was detained in April 2021.They have been surveilled by the criminal police since the fall of 2020.
On October 5, 2021, the Čyhunačny District Court of Viciebsk sentenced Aliaksandr Matsiayuk to 9 years in a high security prison and a fine under Part 3 of Art. 328 and Art. 332 of the Criminal Code with for illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of marijuana on a large scale with intent to sell it, as well as maintaining a brothel for using drugs. The accused did not admit guilt under Art. 328.
