Aliaksandr Kulaha is a resident of Brahin, a logger in the local forestry. He was convicted of insulting the president.
The incident occurred on August 16, 2020, after Aliaksandr Kulaha was taken hospital for a blood alcohol level test. While in the admissions office, he allegedly publicly insulted a man named Lukashenka, using rude and obscene words in the presence of police officers and doctors. After that, a criminal case under Art. 368 of the Criminal Code - Insult to the President of Belarus.
On December 29, 2020, Judge Maryia Haurylenka of the Brahin District Court sentenced Aliaksandr Kulaha to 2 years of "khimiya" (restricted freedom in an open correctional facility). The trial was held behind closed doors.
The sentence became final on March 5, 2021, and Kulaha was sent to serve his sentence in open penitentiary No. 48.
