Aliaksandr Yemeliyanovich was detained in Luniniec on June 7, 2021. From there he was taken to Minsk and later transferred to the pre-trial prison in Žodzina.
Yemeliyanovich was named a suspect in the case under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (group actions that grossly violate public order) opened after a rally in the Minsk district of Kurapaty on November 1, 2020. Over 230 people were reportedly targeted in the case.
On August 9, 2021, the Pieršamajski District Court of Minsk sentenced Aliaksandr Yemeliyanovich to three years' imprisonment in an open correctional facility.
The convict was released to await an appeal hearing.
