Aliaksandr Shautsou is from Žlobin, Homieĺ region. On April 2, 2021, he was sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony under Article 364 ('Violence against a police officer').
Initially, Shautsou was facing charges of 'organizing or actively participating in group actions grossly disrupting public order' (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code). However, the investigation was unable to gather the necessary evidence. The charges stemmed from the events in Žlobin on the post-election night of August 9, 2020, when people protested against the rigged presidential election.
On May 27, 2023, the political prisoner was released from penal colony# 3 in Vićba (Viciebsk region), having served his full term.
