Aleh Yafremenka is from Viciebsk.
He was convicted of using violence against a police officer (Article 364 of the Criminal Code) during the protest march on September 13, 2020, in Viciebsk.
Yafremenka was accused of knocking down a policeman who fell and scratched his palms. Yafremenka was arrested on the same day.
On December 9, in the Pieršamajski District Court of Viciebsk, judge Natallia Karablina sentenced Yafremenka to four years and six months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
The political was first in Prison #4, and then he was transferred to Penal Colony #15, both in Mahilioŭ.
From September 30, 2021, Aleh Yafremenka served his sentence in Prison #4 in Mahilioŭ. It is known that the prison administration regularly placed the political prisoner in a disciplinary cell for 'violations of the routine'.
On August 15, 2022, the Lieninski District Court of Mahilioŭ convicted the political prisoner under Part 1 of Article 411 of the Criminal Code ('Malicious disobedience to penitentiary administration’). Judge Viktoryia Paliakova sentenced Yafremenka to another 12 months of imprisonment in addition to his previous term.
On November 18, 2022, Aleh Yafremenka was transferred to penal colony #9 in Horki, Mahilioŭ region.
On July 25, 2023, the political prisoner was tried for the third time. The case was heard by the Horki District Court. Judge Alena Varabyova found Yafremenka guilty again under Article 411 of the Criminal Code ('Malicious disobedience to penitentiary administration’) and sentenced him to another 12 months of imprisonment in addition to his previous term.
It is known that Aleh Yafremenka was transferred to Prison #4 in Mahilioŭ.
