Aleh Baradzin is a furniture production director from Homieĺ. On March 29, 2022, the KGB officers detained him for photographing two drunken Russian soldiers. As a result, Baradzin was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for being subscribed to "extremist" Telegram channels.

After being released from the detention center, Aleh Baradzin learned that a criminal case had been opened against him and fled Belarus with his family.

Seven criminal cases have been opened in the Homieĺ region bordering Ukraine for passing on the information about Russian military vehicles movement to “extremist” Telegram channels, the Investigative Committee reports. Cases are brought under Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (Promoting extremist activities); detainees face up to six years in prison. Viasna tells what is known about them.
