Aliaksei Ramanau is an opposiiton activist in Homieĺ. He was active in Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s campaign and was repeatedly detained during the presidential election. On July 28, the activist spoke at an election rally in Chojniki and used derogatory statements attacking Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Ramanau was arrested and faced charges.

On December 16, 2020, the Chojniki District Court sentenced Ramanau to 12 months in prison under Art. 368 of the Criminal Code (“insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus”).

Aliaksei Ramanau has a disability of group 2 caused by cancer.

A former volunteer in Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s campaign, Aliaksei Ramanau was found guilty under Art. 368 of the Criminal Code (“insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus”). According to the court ruling, the activist, “intending to publicly insult the President, deliberately uttered words and phrases in an obscene manner, which, according to an expert, contained a negative assessment of President Aliaksandr Lukashenka.”
