Statement on the status of a political prisoner
Aksana Kaspiarovich is a teacher at a music school in Lida.
She was detained on September 30, 2021 for online comments after the deaths of IT worker Andrei Zeltser and KGB officer Dzmitry Fedasiuk. She was charged under Art. 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of social hatred).
On June 14, 2022, the KGB included Aksana on the list of "persons involved in terrorist activities".
On June 29, 2022, a Hrodna Regional Court Judge Aliaksandr Kozel found the woman guilty and sentenced her to 14 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
Aksana served her sentence in full and was released from Prison No. 1 on July 9, 2022.
