Viktar Matsiaikovich was detained for participation in the protests in 2020 and a criminal case was opened against him for ‘active participation in group actions that grossly violate the public order’ (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

On November 23, 2022, Judge Alena Zhukovich of the Savietski District Court of Minsk sentenced Matsiaikovich to three years of restricted freedom under home confinement. The political prisoner was released from custody in the courtroom.
