Sviatlana Karol is a pensioner and cycling activist from Homieĺ, chairwoman of the regional public association VeloGomel. In 2020, the woman joined Homieĺ Coordinating Council.
On September 20, 2023, it was reported that Sviatlana was in temporary detention facility of Homieĺ. She was detained in a criminal case.
Sviatlana is charged with slandering Lukashenka (Article 367 of the Criminal Code).
The trial of Sviatlana began on March 11, 2024 in the Homieĺ Regional Court. The case was considered by Judge Vadzim Bobyrau in closed session.
On March 28, 2024, Sviatlana was sentenced to one year and six months in a penal colony.
