Siarhei Sharyn is a resident of Sosny near Minsk convicted of insulting a government official.

Sharyn was sentenced to 18 months of restricted freedom (home confinement).

According to the indictment, on November 25, 2020, Sharyn deliberately publicly insulted a police major, deputy head of the Baranavičy police department Ihar Yarokhin, by posting a comment reading “scum” under his photo in the Telegram chat “Punishers of Belarus”. Yarokhin earlier took part in the brutal detention of peaceful protesters.
