Mikita Mashuta was detained for participating in protests in 2020 and subsequently charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code. On December 5, 2023, Judge Marharyta Lantsevich presided over his case in the Hrodna Kastryčnicki District Court, which resulted in a sentence of two years of khimiya (restricted freedom in an open penal facility).

Prior to the trial, he was held in a pre-trial detention center.
