Mikhail Marmysh was arrested on October 1, 2021, as a defendant in the 'Zeltser case' for his comments on the Internet related to the shootout on September 28, 2021, in Minsk, between the KGB officers and the IT worker Andrei Zeltser.
On November 14, 2022, the Minsk City Court convicted him under Article 130 ('Incitement of hatred or enmity'), Article 369 ('Contempt of a public official'), and Article 368 ('Contempt of the President of Belarus') of the Criminal Code of Belarus. Judge Sviatlana Charapanava sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
On January 31, 2023, the Supreme Court dismissed his appeal and upheld the verdict.
