Before his arrest, Mikalai Davydau worked as a leading design engineer at Gomselmash, a major Belarusian agricultural machinery producer.

On April 11, 2023, the Homieĺ Regional Court sentenced Davydau to 24 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony and 2,000 Belarusian rubles (approx, $676) in compensation for moral damages.
