Maryna Markevich was detained on February 2, 2022, as part of a criminal case for ‘insulting the President’ under Article 368 of the Criminal Code. The case was instituted for burning a Lukashenka effigy.
On September 2022, the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk sentenced Maryna Markevich to two and a half years in a penal colony, she was also convicted of ‘participation in group actions grossly violating the public order’ (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
