Maksim Pliatniou is from Hrodna. He was taken into custody as a defendant in a criminal case on protest graffiti under Article 341 of the Criminal Code ('Desecration of buildings and damage to property').

On August 18, 2022, his trial began. The prosecution requested 18 months of imprisonment. The next day, Judge Ruslan Huryn found Pliatniou guilty and sentenced him to 12 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.

In November 2022, the political prisoner was transferred from Prison #1 in Hrodna to Penal Colony #15 in Mahilioŭ.

Maksim Pliatniou has served his full sentence and was released in March 2023.
