Maksim Belchanka was convicted under Part 1 of Article 209, Part 2 of Article 209, Part 1 of Article 361-4, Part 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. He was sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment in a penal colony. The case was considered by Judge Yauhen Sharshniou from May 29 to June 13, 2023.
It is known that on October 13, 2022 Maksim was convicted under the administrative article for distribution of information products containing calls for extremist activity.
There are reports that in the pre-trial detention center Maksim got encephalitis. There were severe complications. For some time he was even paralyzed. He walks with difficulty.
On July 7, 2023 he was included in the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
