Ihar Novikau was sentenced to 24 months in a general-security penal colony.

Ihar was charged under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code (Insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus), as well as under Art. 341 (Desecration of buildings and damage to property).

The man was in custody since December 4, 2021.

      Novikau was included in the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.

At the end of October 2023, he served out his sentence and was released from prison.
