Artur Smaliakou, 29, a member of the United Civic Party, was not released after 15 days of administrative arrest. He is charged with ‘active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order’ under Article 342 of the Criminal Code.

The trial of Smaliakou and other UCP members started on October 27, 2022, in the Frunzienski District Court of Minsk. On October 31, Judge Ala Skuratovich found him guilty and sentenced him to 24 months of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony.
