On December 14, 2022, in the Kastryčnicki District Court of Hrodna, he was convicted under Part 1 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code ('Insulting the president of Belarus'). Judge Dzmitryi Kedal sentenced Matsonka to 12 months of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.
Matsonka was included in the 'List of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities'.
Matsonka was released from prison at the end of November 2023.
