On March 1, 2023, Aliaksandr Karaliou was found guilty by the Court of Leninski District of Mahilioŭ under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, and sentenced to one year and six months in prison for insulting Lukashenka. Judge Natallia Panasenka presided over the case.
Karaliou was taken into custody at his workplace on December 29, 2022. He has a disability.
On June 23, 2023, he was added to the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
