Aleh Slysh is believed to have been arrested for his comments on the Internet related to the shootout between the KGB officers and the IT worker Andrei Zeltser that occurred on September 28, 2021, in Minsk.

The Minsk City Court convicted him under Article 369 ('Contempt of a public official') and Part 1 of Article 130 ('Incitement of hatred or enmity') of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The trial lasted from November 10 to 21, 2022, behind closed doors.

On February 24, 2023, Aleh Slysh was included in the 'List of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens, and stateless persons involved in extremist activities'.
