Leanid Herasimliuk was sentenced on August 17, 2021 three and a half years in a penal colony by the Hrodna Regional Court under Part 3 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code (calls for actions aimed at harming the national security of the Republic of Belarus) for comments condemning illegal violence by law enforcement officers.

In October and November 2020, Herasimliuk posted several comments in a public Telegram chat that allegedly called for violence and acts of terrorism.
